Why are so Many Disturbed After Fighting for “Noble Cause?”

Suicides of Houston Army recruiter and his wife leave questions of struggle that endured after Iraq
By LINDSAY WISE

Army recruiter Nils Aron Andersson sat behind the wheel of his brand-new Ford F-150, firing round after round into the truck’s CD player and radio with a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol. Spent cartridges littered the seats and floorboards, along with a paper pharmacy bag holding a prescription for the antidepressant Lexapro.

Andersson’s wife, Cassy Walton, had been trying to reach the 25-year-old sergeant on his cell phone for hours. He finally picked up about 2 a.m. and told her he wanted to kill himself.

Walton begged him to keep talking to her. Andersson told her he was on the top floor of a downtown Houston parking garage and ended the call. Then he put the pistol to his head, just above his right ear.

Minutes later, Walton raced up the stairs of the garage….

WHERE DO YOUR TAX DOLLARS GO?

April 9, 2008

Contrary to the underpinnings of modern conservative “thought” (<-- contradiction in terms - I know it's cliche' but I couldn't resist) your tax dollars don't go where you think they do.

Nothing delights me more than debunking the misinformation that is fundamental for the Right's strange hold on this country, especially the rhetorical vomit espoused by the dead criminal, Ronald Reagan, and the obese and dumb, like Rush Limbaugh (he's still pushing maximum density) and the rest of the moronic ilk. The images below clearly show that your taxes don't go to welfare queens driving around in Cadillacs or to border hoping illegal aliens living like Kings on government assistance.

Oh no, these images show something much more insidious.

NOW HEAR THIS: the majority of you taxes go the MILITARY!

Oh, I know you’ll rest safely knowing that our over-funded behemoth of a military, which couldn’t win wars in Vietnam, North Korea, Afghanistan and Iraq (to name a few), is receiving the bulk of our hard earned tax dollars.

I can hear the criticism now. You’re yelling at your computer screen, aren’t you? Think I’m a commie pacifist that hates our soldiers, right? Do you know what I can’t stand besides a conservative who just doesn’t get it and never will? I can’t stand the thought in some people’s minds that money wins wars. And what drives me over the edge is that these same people will be the first to tell you that you can’t educate our children by throwing money at schools and you can’t lick poverty by throwing money at people. Am I right? Then why do these same people continue to believe that you win wars with expensive technology? Tell that to the Vietnamese. We literally killed millions of people in their 3rd world country and they never gave up! Why? Because WILL wins wars, not technology. And money has no place on a battlefield.

I don’t doubt for 1 second that if you put our soldiers in any battle in a war of last resort we’ll come out victorious every single time. Stick our soldiers in situations where they don’t belong, like an absolutely unnecessary war in Iraq and they’re going to lose every single time, not because they are cowardly but because their leadership has failed them. The examples of which are abundant throughout American history.

This point is absolutely fundamental to understanding why there is NEVER going to be a military solution in Iraq…. NEVER! It’s the same reason why we lost the war the day we decided to invade and occupy a sovereign nation that never offered us a true tangible threat.

Get it through your thick skulls and figure out who the true enemies are! While your at it you may want to ponder how we can invest our tax dollars for our futures instead of pissing them away on a military welfare state.
