The Last True Patriot

My fellow Americans…

It is with a heavy heart that I speak with you today. I am reluctantly about to reveal things about your President that nobody has ever known.

I truly hope and pray that one day you’ll understand why I have found it necessary to do this.

First, let me just say that I never set out to deceive anyone and I have nothing but eternal optimism for the American people. My statement today isn’t a message of giving up or giving in and I pray that after listening to my message you don’t give up on me or yourselves.

Many of you might find some of the comments I make today to be shocking. Many of you will also find some of the things I have to say today to be treasonous. I can understand both perceptions and for this I apologize for not being more clear but I can hardly makeup in one speech for years of societal misinformation.

For many years I have puzzled and suffered with how such a great country, founded by immigrants, people with a fundamental distrust of authority but yet those who recognized that a strong government made up of the governed was necessary to recognize the ambitions of such high ideals. It is in this contrasting view of what once was that I am shocked at how our great nation has allowed itself to devolve into what it has become today.

We have more than lost our way, for many of us we actually believe the path we are taking IS the high road. Pointing out this new harsh and ignorant American way of being is not partisan, it’s not conservative or liberal, Republican or Democrat, doing so is essentially American; the one and maybe only thing that has truly distinguished our way from the way of other countries. The reality is that this previously unspoken truth has been neglected and ignored for far too long.

At one time we were a nation that tangled with our problems; we would look at our hypocrisies squarely in the eyes and after much pain and suffering firmly tell these immoral beasts to go straight to hell. Maybe we have become victims of our own economic success or maybe it’s been the overarching individualism perpetuated by so many of the popular heroes of our day but now it is true that we no longer meet our great challenges with the same vigor.

It is within the seemingly hopeless framework of our time that I have conceived what follows. I am not the conservative Republican President you think I am, just as our country is not what you think it is. My fellow Americans, the truth is that our country is spiritually bankrupted. Our national soul is in the metaphorical chains of purgatory.

While suffering for many years watching my fellow countrymen rejoice in their own ignorance while basking in the mythological glory that has morphed into brazen hubris and maniacal nationalism, I conceived the following plan.

I decided that I would use the political system to attain the greatest political power in the world, the Office of the President of the United States. I have manipulated, coerced, cajoled, bribed and lied my way to the top and while I have done so completely unethically, I have yet to break a single law. After realizing that it was not only possible to attain power through these means but that every President in recent memory has done so, I concluded that my only prudent choice as a true patriot is to attempt to forever destroy this fundamentally evil system.

It is no mistake that I use the phrase “true patriot.” Many have attempted to distort what it means to be a patriot. Some have tried to paint us as either unquestioning automatons, while others have claimed that we are fanatical nationalists. The truth is we are neither. True patriots understand the context of the formation of this country, they understand the people’s history, and they take time to deliberatively reflect on where their country is headed. There are not many of us left but the burning example of the founders gives us the strength and courage needed to make the sacrifices that our country so sorely requires.

We have become a country that practices the appearances of patriotism, with all the pomp of the ribbons and the flags, but far too many don’t even understand what those stars and stripes mean or more importantly, how they’re all held together. Many believe that the strength of our country is exhibited through our organized military perpetrating wars, while they fail to recognize that the formation of our great nation was made possible by the courageous, albeit reluctantly unorganized and unfunded minutemen, who only had the will for freedom on their side, while ironically, the other side had King George, the Church, God, technology, civility and a lust for the desirable and abundant resources that lay at our feet.

During the election I prayed every night that I would be discovered as a hypocrite. When I used fear and derision as weapons against my political opponent I had hoped that I would be exposed. When my opponent finally had to resort to the same tactics I secretly hoped some of the charges would stick. When I made quid pro quo deals with members of the business community I wished that there was a journalist waiting in the shadows ready to expose me. Nothing ever did. It’s one thing to know that people are easily manipulated but it’s shocking to see the speed at which it works and all the forces, financial, political and social, that coagulate to further these lies for the purpose of electing “their” purchased candidate.

It’s personally shameful to be the beneficiary of such a system and it must be destroyed.

For the last 5 years I have kept a journal delineating every single political transaction that has taken something away from the citizens and taxpayers. The journal also contains the names of every individual, every politician, and every business that has benefited from this fundamentally corrupt system. Where it has been possible I have corroborated these activities through both audio and video recordings.

Knowing that I have lied, cheated and deceived the American people in the attainment of my position it is the duty of the Congress to remove me from office through their constitutionally obligated powers of impeachment.

It is only upon my impeachment that the contents of the journal and the recording will be released. It is my belief that the impeachment process as conceived by the founders, will demonstrate the effectiveness of the rule of law and the abuses inherent in this pay-for-service system will be fully exposed to the light of day. Once exposed you the people will have 2 choices, do nothing and watch as our country disintegrates around us or come together in a mass movement of solidarity to flush out not only the corrupt cogs in the system but to rewrite their rules to ensure that this never happens again.

It is no mistake that I make this announcement in the 5 year of my presidency, just 1 year before the mid-term elections. If the Congress fails to impeach me the public will know that corruption exists at the highest levels of their government and will be empowered to turn out every single last politician who didn’t have the requisite courage to put the needs of the country before their Party and their own political careers.

I hope and pray that our political leaders will find the courage to do the right thing. Maybe they will finally get a small taste of what it means to be a true patriot whose sacrifices, like so many of the courageous minuteman and unnamed social activists, have been responsible for building what once was a great society. And maybe, just maybe, this crisis can be the impetus for steering this country down a new path.

Either way the power for change ultimately rest with you, we the people.
